The genesis of Holy Temple of Prayer

In the year of our Lord 2015, under the dedicated leadership of our shepherd, Bishop Eddie Thompson Sr., and First Lady Angela M. Thompson, the seeds for the Holy Temple of Prayer were sown. In March of 2015, the people of God came together, driven by a desire to move forward with a change in church leadership after their current leadership intended to close the church. This situation would have left the people of God without a place to worship.

A divine direction for worship

Bishop and First Lady Thompson Sr. began praying, earnestly asking God for direction to find a new place of worship. In the second week of March 2015, Bishop Thompson was introduced to Pastor Hattie Newton, who pastored and oversaw two buildings. Providentially, the building at 851 Walker Avenue, Kansas City, Kansas, was empty.

Our new home and calling

Bishop Thompson and Pastor Newton met and came to an agreement for the use of the building. Pastor Newton stated she could not sell or rent the building, but the church could use it. On the fourth Sunday in March of 2015, the congregation met together for the first time in the building to vote for the move, the name of the church, and to formally appoint Bishop Eddie and First Lady Angela M Thompson as their Pastor and First Lady. This marked the official beginning of Holy Temple of Prayer, a place where the Gospel of Jesus Christ is shared with all.

"The hand of God was truly at work in bringing Holy Temple of Prayer into existence. We are forever grateful for His guidance and the leaders He provided."
